Bizerte is on the north coast, with the town and old harbour a short distance from the marina. The main option here is leaving the boat afloat through the winter. The marina is open all year and offers specific winter agreements.

For haul-out, the tourism authorities refer to a 100-tonne travel lift in the fishing harbour of Zarzouna. This is a separate facility, not a storage area inside Marina Bizerte.

AirportTunis-Carthage is about 70 km away by road.

Gammarth is north of Tunis. The short journey from the airport makes the marina practical for dropping off, collecting or working on the boat. Shops and restaurants surround the harbour basin.

Tunis-Carthage: Approx. 15 km

AirportTunis-Carthage is nearest. This gives a short drive between the plane and the boat.

Yasmine has a large dedicated boatyard beside the harbour office. The yard makes the harbour relevant for winter storage ashore and major maintenance between seasons.

The published winter period is 1 October–30 April. The marina’s price list covers berthing; haul-out, space ashore and boatyard work are separate items.

AirportsEnfidha is around 40 km away and Tunis-Carthage around 70 km. Both are options when dropping off and collecting the boat.

El Kantaoui is just north of Sousse, with restaurants, shops and apartments around the harbour. The marina has an area for haul-out and work on boats, CCTV and 24-hour reception.

El Kantaoui is an option to examine further, while Monastir and Yasmine have more detailed information about winter storage and accounts from visiting sailors.

AirportsMonastir is about 20–25 km away, Enfidha around 35–40 km.

Monastir · established winter base

Marina Cap Monastir

Monastir is an established winter base for visiting sailors, with the town close by and the airport just a few kilometres away. It also has an international community of people who live aboard through the winter.

Monastir airport: Approx. 6 km

For larger lifts, there is a boatyard in the fishing harbour about one nautical mile away. A sailor’s account from winter 2023–2024 describes an active community; wind and dust are among the practical drawbacks in winter.

AirportThe short journey to Monastir airport is an advantage when flight days fit. Tunis is an alternative when seasonal routes offer few connections.

About the selection and sources

The guide brings together five harbours worth considering for longer stays. Yasmine is especially relevant for storage ashore, Monastir for an established winter community and Bizerte for berths afloat. The numbering follows the coast from north to south.

Harbour information and customs rules were checked against operators, Tunisian customs and harbour guides on 19 September 2026. Links appear beside each place. Travel distances are approximate; flight options vary throughout the year.
